{pretty, happy, funny, real}

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~

Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

{pretty}

My aunt came by for a visit while we were in Massachusetts over Christmas, and dropped off several boxes of my late grandmother's things for us girls to go through. I brought a few things back with me, including these two sweet little Japanese plates, knowing they were just the thing to go on my dresser to catch my earrings when I'm too tired to put them away properly before bed.

{happy}

Chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. Need I say more?

{funny}

Pardon the phone picture. We were on  our way out the door!

I told Pippo to gather up a few books to look at while we were waiting at the doctor's office, and this is what he came up with:

Six Foolish Fisherman, The Great Corgiville Kidnapping, A Treeful of Pigs, The Very Hungry Caterpillar,

and of course, that great toddler classic,

Robert E. Lee on Leadership.

{real}

We built a tower before naptime, and after jumping up and down and running excitedly in circles around it several times, Pippo decided that we needed to leave it up to "show Dad!" when he gets home.

We had gotten him some "big Legos" for Christmas, but only actually pulled them out this weekend, since he came home with so many wonderful new toys. (When your birthday is the day after Christmas, it's easy to get overwhelmed by presents!) He loves them, of course, and I expect this is just the beginning of many happy years of special Lego buildings taking up residence in my living room, as I'm sure moms of bigger little boys can attest.
