{pretty, happy, funny, real}

Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

I am not sure if my brain is capable of sorting things out in the proper categories this week. It's all sort of real, with lots of happiness thrown in.

You know how after a huge event you sit around in a comatose state, blankly staring at each other and saying, "Well, at least we don't have to do that again soon."?

Yeah, well...

Rosie says that the other thing you say is, "If only we could do it again soon, we'd be able to apply all the things we learned, whereas by the next time, we will have forgotten."

So we'll go with that.

Sukie gets married!

As Mother of the Bride, of course I simply couldn't take many pictures. That would have been inappropriate, counterproductive, and contrary to this principle of mine, which is to live the moment, even at the expense of recording it (a principle which may sometimes have negatively affected aspects of life and memory, not to mention blog content, but that's how it goes).

Soon you'll have a proper view, but I wanted to show you how I did get the beginning at the house and the end at the couple's last dance.

For all the bustle and excitement that comes with throwing two weddings in three weeks, we are actually relatively calm over here.

Busy, yes. There are no fewer than six lists on the kitchen table as I type this! But crazy -- not quite. I think we're right on track and it's all coming together. The first bride walks down the aisle in just a few days, and no one is panicking yet!

Habou has been gardening up a storm for weeks now, and it shows! We'll have to show you more -- you know, once things calm down a bit. But I went around taking photos of some of the glorious irises in bloom right now.

With three mothers in the house, there were plenty of flowers this weekend! These are from Pippo to Rosie! Clever boy.

I wish I were the kind of blogger who posted every day. I certainly have things to tell you every day, and I even have pictures, despite the preponderance of heavy, dark days here. And it's not like things aren't happening! All sorts of things.

Pippo and I are here!

We are staying for what I've been referring to as "the wedding season," trying our best to be helpful.

A peek at the rec room, an all-purpose room.

So this is the sofa I got on Craigslist (remember hearing about it from the rug post?).

I'll tell you a bit about this room. It's above the kitchen. I think that originally (the house was built in 1860 or thereabouts), it was a servants' room -- it's up the back stairs. We have used it as a bedroom, but in later times, now that we have fewer children around, I like the idea of having a rec room where they can play Foosball and yell if they like, but still be accessible to my yells.

A little May love by Our Lady's statue. Bridget picked lilacs while we went out to do a few wedding errands.

Chitchat's all I got.

Here's why I can't talk to you.

Three bridesmaids' dresses for Sukie, one completely done (only, really, I need to get it back from being tried on and finish off the inside seams properly), two all-but-hand-sewing-done.

Three bridesmaids' dresses for Deirdre, one close to being done (including the zipper, which was worrying me, just because zippers are worrisome and so final, yet so very inevitably in need of tweaking before really being done), two mostly cut out, same two in need of more lace fabric to complete (waiting on Joann's for that, wish me luck).

One mother-of-the-bride's dress to make, I guess (I did find one to buy, which is miraculous and due only to my friend Erin's insistent pressure to give into free shipping from Boden and just try it on). (If Boden wants to advertise here, not that I have any time to figure out about ads on the blog right now, they will know that I really and truly believe in them and think their clothes a) are modest and b) fit and c) are well made and d) are cute. That's... miraculous.)

One knitting project for the Dragon baby.

The garden.

The yard.

Maybe my blog should be called "Pictures from a while ago" or something.
