Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

This is one of my favorite parts of my kitchen!

It's a pretty little egg cup that I found while we were "perched" in Oklahoma -- it's one of the very few things that I allowed myself to buy while we were there (and I was trying so hard not to acquire "stuff"). There was only one of them, and it was just a dollar or two, but it was just what I wanted.

It sits on my windowsill above my kitchen sink (actually, it's on the part of the sill that's above the counter... a little bit safer), and it's where I put my rings when I'm doing messy things like working with bread dough or raw meat (or wood stain) or anything else that I don't really want lingering in those precious little nooks and crannies.

I don't like taking them off, but I do like putting them back on again. (As my mom once told me, "It's a little 'yes!' all over again!") And I love having a pretty and safe spot set aside for them so I'm not putting them down wherever I happen to be.

Getting used to being thrifty.

Ah, you know, I really sometimes struggle with posting something here as an illustration of what I'm talking about, because I don't want you to think that I think of myself as a "good example." For one thing, I know perfectly well that gazillions of you are a hundred times more whatever it is than I. (But it's fun to compare notes, right?)

So you know that anything you read here (and especially any photos, which are only included because... I like a post with photos) is offered in the spirit of "If I can do it, so can you!"

At this particular moment, the "it" I'm talking about is living on one income.

I'm talking about having lots of kids if they come to you, sending them to college, feeding your ice cream habit, and in general living with what some would consider some sort of crazy risk-taking -- but, once you get used to it, just seems normal and actually gratitude-inducing for how much plenty we encounter all around us!

I have some great friends, and along the way I have been edified and often rescued from some fairly silly pity-parties by their resourcefulness and can-do attitude. I think everyone needs a friend, someone who is going to encourage you and tell you that you can do it.

Do you mind looking at my Easter photos, such as they are? At some point I think I will try to catch you up on what's been going on with wedding planning, gardening, some Ask Auntie Leila (remember that??) and more wedding planning, but for now, I can't bear to let these thoughts go.

{Can you tell that I'm not a young, energetic blogger?? No anticipation here! At some point, I'm sure I'll remember something that happened a few weeks ago and fill you in.}

Before I set out for the farmer's market last week, I emailed my husband and told him he was going to buy me some Easter flowers there. Don't you think he did an excellent job?

{happy and real}

I'm taking a little break (I'm not absolutely sure at this point that you will notice the difference between my idea of the "super-posting me" and the actual "slacker me" but I feel the need to be explicit) to try to get ready for this beautiful holy time. I half have things sort of under control and half just can't believe how very much there is to do on just about every front.

A few little things to get ready for the Easter Triduum.

{Recipe -- sort of -- at the end...}

What with lots of wedding sewing, gardening, and general necessary housekeeping, I don't quite have it in me to give you the true, thorough Holy Week rundown.

It's kind of like the Thanksgiving prep (with way more holiness thrown in I'll grant you) so I don't feel too bad, since I did go on and on about that.
