Hi friends!
Thank you so much for your kind concern and for all the prayers. There were many moments when I leaned on them heavily, I can tell you. My thought was for Rosie's update was simply to let you know why the blog was quiet. When I think of all the things people struggle with, I hardly count my problems as anything. I'm usually pretty darn healthy. So I am embarrassed, to tell you the truth, but I won't say I'm sorry you knew to pray for me!
Anyway, quick recap of events: bowel obstruction, a few days waiting in hospital for things to resolve on their own, decision yesterday for surgery. Today, recovering, happy that they could remove the scar tissues causing the trouble without sectioning the bowel. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you my dears!!
The recovery from the surgery so far has been a bit rougher on her than we expected or hoped for, but she seems to have turned a corner, and things are looking up! Today she got to eat her first food in ten days, which I'm sure was wonderful, however liquid and bland it may have been.
We were initially thinking she might be allowed to go home early this week -- maybe even today -- but now I think we still have a few more days to go. (Not quite sure on that point.)
She wants you all to know that she's very grateful for all your prayers, which she has leaned on and still does.
Also, that she has lots of advice for people on how to run hospitals.
(Of course.)
As for the rest of us (minus Deirdre and John who, along with my parents, were sorely missed), we are recovering from a wonderful weekend spent in and around San Francisco, where we celebrated not only Thanksgiving (Natasha's lovely parents bravely hosted all of us for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner) but also this adorable little turkey's baptism!
He is a darling.
