{pretty, happy, funny, real}

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~

Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

{pretty}

Sunset down at the pier at the end of our usual walk. It never gets old.

And we will always try to take pictures of ourselves in front of the sunset, even though it doesn't work very well.

{happy}

An impromptu father-son wiffleball game (I think possibly their first? A momentous occasion that was not long enough for me to grab my real camera) in the backyard.

Pippo's first outing as a pitcher went pretty well: quite a few in the strike zone, a handful of wild pitches, and got distracted by the sidewalk chalk only once or twice.

{funny}

Gallant cookie-baking husband: "The cookies all ran into each other!"

Grateful wife: "I think I'm doing {phfr} this week." <starts snapping photo with phone>

Gallant husband: "If this is going to be on the blog, maybe you should take one that doesn't have chili in the background?"

Grateful wife: "You are the perfect husband."

(The cookies, as you might imagine, were delicious.)

{real}

It was just a cold, but it got this little guy pretty good. He was so tired that he plopped himself down in my lap while I was finishing up a phone call, cuddled up into my arm, and went to sleep.

I can't remember him ever just falling asleep in my lap like that. Ever

Even when he was a newborn, he would maybe let his dad get away with a no-strings-attached nap like that, but not me. He wanted to be nursing every time. And then he got too busy for things like naps in laps.

The poor little guy was so stuffy and sick. But I admit: it was also a pretty glorious twenty minutes. I take my snuggles when I can get them!
