You know that feeling you sometimes get, where you don't really want to read a book, and you can't commit to going anywhere, and shopping isn't the answer?
You know what I think? I think that what you want to do is create something! I really encourage you to find a little space in your life to make something of whatever seems interesting to you. I love that quilts are functional as well as beautiful, but do what you want!
Rosie told you about the "Big Truck Alert" day we had here. There really turned out to be no big trucks per se, although there was a machine that swallowed trees whole. Scary.
It's not right to hate a tree, I'm pretty sure. But bless me Father, for I really hated that tree that was in back of the house. Not only ugly, not only gloomy in a sort of Middle Earth kind of way, but it was dirty -- those tiny needles shedding and being blown into the house and getting stuck in the windowsills. Ugh.
Well, with lots of drama (the drama of skill, not of disaster -- the tree guys dangled live chain saws and swung on rotten branches amazingly nonchalantly), it went bye-bye. Thank goodness! I have hated it for 13 years and that is long enough.
After the tree of doom was gone -- and the light came in the house! And it was glorious! -- the guys got to work on the tree that the Chief had really called them about -- the not hideous but yet dangerous tree of falling branches.
Do you see the branch this guy is sitting on?? Yeah, neither do I.
A view from my desk (if I turn my chair around) unobstructed by ugliness:
