Finished adoption quilt

{Love my creativity with the post title there.}

How is Advent going? Little by little I'm getting decorations out. Little by little I'm gathering presents...handmade and thrifted, for the most part, God willing. I vow not to go into the mall. After all the years of going and finding nothing, I've sworn it off -- for three years now! It's dead to me.

I'm also trying to square away the non-Christmas projects. Life is never cut-and-dried, is it? Babies come at unexpected times. People get sick. It snows. That's okay. Did you ever think that God gives us a day, and we just have to try hard to accomplish what's meant to be accomplished in that day? No more, no less.

Take a deep breath and enjoy the day.

I'm not sure about the ribbon...unlike bias binding, it's not very forgiving. Wright's is the same, though. If I had gotten a color, I might not have had to double and re-double, and that might have been easier, but as it was, the colors of the fabric showed through the white material.

Still, it has the luscious flannel side and the cheery smooth side, and the satin is a nice texture as well. Every baby needs a quilt. Don't get hung up on particular sizes or anything. If women on the frontier could do this, so can we!

The quilt is lovely! I love your views on gifts, too......haven't been into a mall this year, either.

I'll have to commission you to make me a quilt when we adopt! Because I'm sure you won't have anything else on your plate... :o)

Cute! I love the way you wrapped it. It's pretty much the most appealing present ever.

I love quilts that are put together from whatever is on hand at the time. When my son was born 22 years ago, my mil made him a quilt that was flannel on one side and a hodgepodge of cheerful squares on the other. Of course I still have it! I applaud your vow to stay out of the mall. This year is a homemade/thrifted/dump shop Christmas for us. The jobs for commercial painters in NH - my husband's business - are scarce, and so is money, so we make do and focus on giving of ourselves in Jesus' name. Advent devotions and activities are that much more meaningful when we are not caught up in the whirlwind. Have a blessed day in the Lord!

That last picture of the quilt on the rocker is so cheerful! Pretty quilt down to pretty floor and a nice bow on top!

I have that same green flannel! Well, I mean, I made it into a bonnet for little girl. So sweet to see it appear here. I love your quilt aesthetic!
I'm not sure if I told you before, but when I saw the "brick wall" quilt on your blog, I was transfixed. You used black sashing on it and it was such a gorgeous stained-glass effect - is it done yet? I used white sashing and shades of blue in the blocks. I'm going to be quilting it soon - pictures and update on my (NEW!!!) blog.

I love the finish! Beautiful wrapping and presentation.
Oh, it's the simple things in life that really mean so much.
I have a friend that quilts ... continuously. Every seam, color, and fabric must be perfect ... yet, she can get misty eyed at an old quilt that was undoubtedly scrapped together from old pieces of fabric, put into a hodge podge pattern. So, just keep it simple and the love will show through.
Merry Christmas!
