Who wouldn't want a darling CorningWare refrigerator dish or classic bee book? A giveaway!

{The comments are closed! We'll have the results soon! Thanks so much to everyone who entered! XOXO!}

It's Like Mother, Like Daughter's first giveaway! It's very modest. But heartfelt.
I hope you don't judge me by my giveaway. We're not talking free cameras or any glam stuff you see on the other blogs.

It's just a little giftie from us to you...

Remember how I came across that bee book, Langstroth's Hive and the Honey-Bee? Our third copy?

Well, I think some of you might be interested in this book, which you can read more about here. So I will part with it.

(Technically, it isn't my book, it's the Chief's, but he already has one, and we gave the second to a friend.)

Wait, it gets cuter!

You remember that little dish with the turquoise rooster I found? Well, I found another one! And I'm giving it away! It's a little hard to part with it!

I have a sort of all-consuming desire to possess every cute, retro, vintage, or otherwise darling kitchen object in the world.

But I will say goodbye to this one, just for you!Even though they look fairly amazing stacked up like this... (note I'm giving you the less worn one! Unless you specifically want the other one -- just tell me in the comment you leave) (also note the size of this little, modest item -- I don't want to disappoint you!).

I decided to put the little toppings I like on ice cream in them...this one is holding Andes pieces (have you noticed that mini-M&Ms are not available in the baking section or anywhere else, or is it just me? I really like those on my ice cream...). I will remove the Andes pieces, unless you instruct me otherwise in your comment. (If you want the other, more worn one, I will remove the cookie crumbs ((yes, they are wicked good on ice cream!)), unless you tell me not to.)

Here is a view from above, below:

This is how much I love and appreciate you!

Here are the rules. All comments should be left here on this post.

1. Please leave a comment to enter -- you can tell me what you would like us to post more about, or you can tell us how fabulous we are, or how dumb, and just say you want one or the other item.

If you want a chance to win both, leave one comment per item. If you don't specify, I'll assume you want the dish.

2. You get another chance per item (leave another comment) if you have us on your blogroll or use this opportunity to put us on. Just tell us that you did/have done so!

So, we wanted to give you a chance at a little cuteness...I'm feeling a little embarrassed that it isn't more... but it's a start!

On May 30 comments will close (in the morning, sometime) and shortly thereafter I will do a random drawing. Good luck! XOXO!

Thanks to Julia at Hooked on Houses for the link! Go see what others are doing...
Thanks to Ann Kroeker at Food on Fridays! See what people are cooking up!
Thanks to Amy at The Finer Things in Life! See the finer things!

Hello! I found your blog when my pal Erin linked to it, to the post that said to focus on laundry and dinner instead of wigging out about the length of your to-do list. My fifth baby arrived in late December and I have found it to be such helpful advice.

I think your blog is awesome. I love all the homemaking posts and posts on frugality, and making a cozy home for your family. :)

I want the dish! :-) I love your posts on making do. The cottage/vintage feel of your home is gorgeous, and I'm learning. Maybe this week I'll post on the little canisters I bought at the thrift store---because of you!

Hi Leila!
Thank you for all that you share and teach through your blog. I especially appreciate how you encourage creating and making a cozy, warm home for your family and thinking outside the box. I love your posts on thrifting, cooking, frugality.
The gifts you're giving away are great! My mom had the same CorningWare set when I was growing up--brought back good memories. The beekeeping manual looks interesting. My sister just painted her bee boxes and is preparing for her first year of bee keeping.
Thank you again for having a giveaway!

I just found your blog yesterday on a friend's recommendation. I love your blog because you are so genuine and real. I really appreciate that. This kind of giveaway is the best! I would love the CorningWare dish.

I'm posting because I have a disturbing obsession with refrigeratorware and very little money for buying such things. And because I love this blog. I love how practical and simple your explanations are.

Oh, that dish is sooooo cute! I love old corning ware dishes and I have never seen this rooster one before. Oh, my I collect chickens (real and figurines) and I would love this.

I enjoy reading your blog because it is real life, modest and doable! No glam that I can't obtain in my own world. :)

I would love the book! Oh and the ades pieces out of the container. ;) I love the container but have some like it and nowhere to put another!

I have a bowl that matches the dish, in which I put fruit. Green apples look especially pretty in it.

I love reading this site because I'm a young mother who hopes to give my kids as good a foundation and as comfortable a home as you've given yours.

The dish is adorable! I always look for these but never find them. You must be lucky. :)

Just commenting as a thumbs up for your blog. I have enough dishes and books are my wallpaper, it's tempting.

Have a great day! :)

I can't recall where I found your blog, but I am really enjoying it! So fun, so encouraging, so Real--just what I needed.
I am loving that little fridge dish, I was looking on eBay for those very little things just the other day, but the PRICES!! :O
My favorite color, too, I know they call it Aqua, but I prefer Robin's-Egg Blue. ;)
Not certain that I'd ever actually *need* the book on bees, but it surely does look like it'd be an interesting read.
Off to figure out how to add you to my blogroll, so that I can enter twice!

Back again to say that you are now on a roll! Or--er, *the* roll. :)
Off now to go crush up some Butterfingers in anticipation of that sweet little dish.

I love the dish...and I love that you are giving away something previously owned. It's good for the environment and it's good for the pocketbook! And I think it sets a good example that materialism isn't what it's all about. It's all about giving...inspiration...encouragement...and real, frugal, simple living. From the little I know about you through reading your beautiful blog...I think this simple, yet special, giveaway is perfect and encompasses your sweet generous spirit. Keep it up! And I say...keep the simple giveaways coming...don't worry about keeping up with the Joneses. And as a matter of fact...you've inpired ME to do a simple, frugal, recycled giveaway too! Let's start a trend!

I have just recently found your blog and have loved going through the archives. It feels so Titus 2 learning from you! I have already started implementing the "fewer clothes" system and I love it. The dish is adorable and I would LOVE to be entered for it! Thank you!

I love your homemaking and homeschooling advice. It's so awesome to hear from someone that's BTDT and is willing to share their secrets.

Please enter me for the book! (I'm reading Fruitless Fall right now, how weird is that?)

Entropy said...

I'll have a post up about you (since I don't have my blogroll up and running yet).

Also, I love your posts about living our Catholic faith. You make it seem so effortless.

MomE said...

I commented earlier about my interest in the Beekeeping...and my wish to live somewhere where I could really try it! I'd be interested in the book just for the knowledge factor! It's all so neat!

MomE said...

AND...yes, the little vintage rooster dish is adorable. I actually think the worn one is neater...but I'm weird that way I suppose! I love what you decided to store in it...thanks for sharing little stuffs like that! I feel like I'm "home" when I visit your blog. I want to climb into the pictures and set a spell!

I discovered your blog because someone had linked to the post on homeschooling labeled "Order and Wonder". After that I added it to my Google Reader and I have loved looking through the archives. There are so many helpful and inspiring posts.

I realy have enjoyed all your posts. Anything to do with organization and living the Liturgy appeals to me. I also like craft ideas for those of us who are less craft inclined. :)

Please enter me in the contest for the Corningware.

By the way I love the peaks into your lovely home and backyard. I am here in Southern California with virtually no real seasons and not nearly as much green around me.

I can't get enough of your blog! I love the little rooster covered dish. I have a mixing bowl in the same color with the same little rooster on it so it would match! So, please enter me in your give-away.

Thanks!

Andes pieces? yummy - especially on chocolate ice cream... what a wonderful little luxury, small enough not to break the bank, but big on flavor and satisfaction. And, the little dish they are in is adorable.

I think that re-gifting can be the heart of frugality. Not passing along "trash" that you got and know no one will really like, but taking something that has been special to you and sharing it with someone you know will enjoy it and make it special in their own way.

Thanks for your blog - it is inspiring in so many little ways -- ideas I can use as-is or modify to fit my home and family. It's like a good friendly conversation over a hot cup of tea while the kids play in the living room.

My husband is an amateur bee keeper (on our 2nd story deck no less ((that's so the bear won't get to the hives!)). I would love to win the bee book to give him on his birthday in August.

I don't like using plastic to store leftovers in the fridge, but I don't have many glass containers with lids. The rooster dish would be perfect!

I am a regular follower(stalker) to your blog! It seems you are always talking directly to me about something that is going on in my life! I love the little rooster dish. It would fit in lovely with all my other vintage mismatch dishes that I own. Please keep talking about raising children, being frugal, and being happy with what you have. It is inspiring!

I just wanted to say I'm not going to enter the drawing, but ONLY because mine wouldn't be a suitable home for either treasure.

The cute little dish would sit in my pantry while I spent months agonizing over the perfect use for it. And the bee book, well, I can't see myself ever using it so it really should go to someone who could.

See? I'm being selfless! But I still wanted to comment anyway!

how adorable! you're one of two links posted on my blog, and the blog that was written on children and discipline inspired me to write my own! All of you ladies are so wonderful and crafty, and I treasure each post as an opportunity to learn something new and creative daily.

I would love the more worn of the dishes! How adorable it would be in my craft area full of little treasures.

That aside, once again, thank you for the down to earth, wonderful posts that I look forward to reading each day!

I love reading your housekeeping worksheets. Is it weird that I enjoy reading about how other people clean their houses? I also loved the toile post you did. I have four girls, too, and would love for them to have a room like that to grow up in.
If I win, I'd love the little dish. So charming!

I would be grateful for one of the dishes, I think they are adorable. I love Corningware dishes and they are not easy to find.

As far as posting, I love anything you post that is of a frugal mindset. I enjoy learning how others live frugally with creativity and by that I mean making do instead of spending more (you do this well and I admire you for it). It's how I strive to live (out of necessity but I am a better person for it).

I'm not blogging presently, but I receive your updates and really enjoy them, thank you.

Oooh! Pick me, please?? I would love that little rooster dish. I know JUST what you mean about wanting to possess every cute little vintage thingy that you come across :| I have really been working hard to curb that feeling. I've even gone so far as to avoid the thrift stores sometimes. I am working on every other week for my two or three favorites and then just pop in to one if I am somewhere far from home and haven't seen it before. Those are where the real treasures can be :D
In fact, I have a hard time buying a secondhand gift, not because I would feel strange giving something pre-owned but because I don't want to part with them. I was very proud of myself this weekend for buying my mother a beautiful wooden salad set and 8 linen napkins and then actually giving them to her!!
So your little dish would be perfect for me because there will be no guilt whatsoever attached, only thoughts of the lovely Leila and her sweet, sweet blog. Perfect!!

The dish! Too cute. I'm sure I could find a place for it.. :) I love old stuff. Brings back lots of memories.

As always, love the blog :)

Your posts on meal planning are the first ones I ever stuck with.
I had my hubby sit down with me on a date night, and we came up with all our main dishes, sides, etc.
Then we made a list of meals out of them. After several months, I'm still using it!! Yeah me!!
I love any posts having to do with keeping our homes. I have a long way to go in this area. My 9 kids still living at home have a long way to go too!
I adore the rooster dish, old and newer. And I too, love mini M&M's on my ice cream. I can find them in the baking section down south here, right next to the chocolate chips.
thanks for doing the cute give-away.

Leila,

I have been reading you for a while now. I'm not sure, but I *think* I found you through a homeschool forum where someone posted a link about your laundry system. We no longer homeschool and our children now attend a fabulous little Classical Christian school, but I still love your gentle wisdom and your quiet, giving spirit. (As well as your calming voice.)

I don't have any specific suggestions for future posts. Just keep doing what you're doing: a mix of practical advice and godly wisdom. How very Titus 2 of you!

I would love the adorable dish. I would probably store my PG Tips loose tea leaves in it. What a life that would give in the morning!

Blessings to you and yours,
Becky J.

WunderMom said...

BeckyJ again-I just went back to the blog post to click on the link for the book when I stopped to take a look at the picture of the dish in your cabinet again. I couldn't believe it when I saw your box of PG Tips tea in the background! I promise you I didn't notice that before I left my comment. We *are* kindred spirits, aren't we? I just received my shipment from Amazon in the mail yesterday. 6 boxes of loose leaves and 4 big boxes of the tea bags at a great price. How funny!

Shelly said...

you are beautiful and so are your daughters!
i really love your blog... great photos - i esp. loved the post on discipline. can't wait for more!

Ginger said...

Holy Cow! YES, I have noticed that I can't find the mini m&m's in the baking isle anymore!! I used to make the best cookies with those and last time I went to look for them I couldn't find them! What in the world? I love them in milkshakes too.
I would love the dish! I love retro corning ware and really anything having to do with kitchens and baking, which is lots of stuff. Love your blog.

Ann Kroeker said...

Nestled amidst PG Tips and Nutella, that dish has my name written all over it. I'll take the dish (more or less worn, doesn't matter in this shabby house), WITH all contents intact (I'll take all the goodies I can get!). Count me in! It's a fabulous giveaway, and because it's about food, I do hope you intend to link in with Food on Fridays. There's food IN the dish, AROUND the dish. Even the bee book is about food, in a way. Speaking of which...

Ann Kroeker said...

Include my name in the bee book giveaway, too, please. I'll enjoy it, and my bee-friend will like it, too. She's just starting out. I'd like to understand more about her newfound passion. And I love honey. I can't remember all your rules. Did I do everything required?
