I think we thought we were starting a quilting and crafting blog...

But you know, quilting takes a long time!
At least for me it does. Here is my little "don't have to think about it" project... my take on Antique Bricks, a pattern I saw in a McCall's magazine. [I'm sorry to say that the pattern doesn't seem to be online anymore. You can email me if you are really interested and I'll try to dig it up.]I'm changing the orientation (horizontal instead of vertical -- isn't that how bricks usually go?), and for some reason decided brown would be better than cream for the "mortar", and I'm not having a border.
It's supposed to be an easy pattern that requires no matching of seams; just make a ton of little rectangles with all your scraps and go! All the little pieces can be done by hand, and I zipped together the rows on the machine. So why has it taken me for. ev. er. to do this??
Now I've finished the top. Somehow I've got to commit to a backing and get this sucker together so that I have something to work on at dance class! (I wait, Bridget dances. You can get a lot done in an hour and a half... IF you have something to work on!).

The quilt in the last picture reminds me of a stained glass window for some reason...

Edi, I thought exactly the same thing. Your bricks Leila, look like stained glass. Very, very pretty and rich.

So pretty! I can picture this on a cozy bed in a room filled with winter sunlight.
I had candles glowing in my home last night...thanks for that.

I've got quilt tops of pieced together...I just haven't gotten around to quilting them yet. That's the part I hate. I always seem to pucker the material.

wow! what a fantastic pattern! I could totally do this and be all 1930s thrifty because those are little rectangles that might otherwise get tossed out. love it.
