This is the cake I made for Kristen's baby shower last weekend. It turned out super-tasty, and mighty good lookin', too.
I love cardamom, but went with the more conservative 2 teaspoons since I was bringing it to a party and didn't want it to be too "out there." It was a hit - Kristen had two pieces, even after her nutritionist friend spent a while talking about how we all eat too much fat (highly inappropriate talk for a baby shower, if you ask me. Or, really, any time).
This post is called "part 1" because I'm holding off on posting pictures of the quilt I made for baby Jack since... it's not done yet. Yes, the shower was over a week ago, and yes, I gave her the quilt and then took it back to finish it. And yes, I have now officially gotten a thank-you note for a gift that I still have (Kristen's hard core).
